NNEW (Nextgen Network Enabled Weather) is part of the NextGen Project (Next Generation Air Transportation System). Weather has a considerable impact on aviation operations and the goal of NNEW is to improve weather information data storage and dissemination. To this end, observations and forecast data will be stored in a virtual 4 dimensional weather data cube and published via industry standard OGC web services: a Web Feature Service (WFS), Web Coverage Service (WCS), and a data discovery service (Registry/Repository). The NNEW data cube will be the single authoritative source of weather information for NextGen. In support of NNEW, NOAA's Earth System Research Laboratory has developed the NNEW Testing Portal which is both an application for testing the features and collecting performance statistics of NNEW web services, as well as a graphical front end enabling users to easily query the NNEW web services running at sites around the country. Results are plotted in maps, charts, and images. The portal is written in Java and Flash. This talk will describe the current capabilities of the portal, its role in the NNEW program, and future development plans.
