Hazard Services Progress Report -- An AWIPS Ii Extended Project To Improve The Ability To Communicate Hazard Information In A Digital World

Abstract

Hazard Services, a cornerstone of a Weather-Ready nation, promises to streamline National Weather Service operations by integrating software tools into a common interface for issuing timely and accurate hazard information. We will provide an update on Hazard Services development work, which is proceeding to operational capability for Hydrology in AWIPS II, initially for optional use by forecasters. Capabilities for additional programs such as Convective, Tropical, and Winter Weather are under way, and test sites at NWS Forecast Offices in Valley, Nebraska and Boulder, Colorado have been established for continual validation.
