The Quality Assessment (QA) Product Development Team(PDT) was tasked to complete an assessment of the Icing Product Alaska Diagnosis (IPA-D) algorithm. IPA-D was developed by the In-FlightIcing (IFI) PDT at the National Centerfor Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and provides a real-time analysis of icing conditions in the Alaska region by assimilating observations to a model background field. IPA-D was evaluated against the Icing Product Alaska Forecast (IPA-F), as well as the ForecastIcing Potential (FIP) and ForecastIcing Severity (FIS) algorithms over a period from September 15, 2016 through January 15, 2017
