Renewable Energy: New Challenges and New Partnerships

Abstract

Geophysical scientists will be key players in determining the success of renewable energy by assisting in the evaluation of the costs of renewables in an unbiased manner, improving forecast models so renewable sources can be used optimally and advising on siting to assure efficient renewable power generation in the future. The initial investment into geophysical research will allow for societal benefits without perpetual tax-driven subsidies. Proper, unbiased geophysical analyses and research will allow the world to arrive at an efficient energy production configuration with minimal impact on the most sensitive areas.
